Shropshire County Agricultural Show 2017

The annual Shropshire County Agricultural Show attracts thousands of people from across the country to the West Mid Showground in Shrewsbury for a celebration of the rural community and to highlight the role it plays in our daily lives.

The Shropshire County Show is a great opportunity to boast about the great things on offer in Shropshire and across the Midlands, from livestock to local businesses and of course the local produce. The support from the local community and visitors is outstanding, and we hope that in 2017 this will continue to build and will be even bigger and better than last year.

WHAT'S NEW THIS YEAR AT THE COUNTY SHOW?

This year’s County Show will take place on Saturday 27th May at the Greenhous West Mid Showground, the home of the show for over 140 years. Quite apart from the usual, well loved items such as the return once again of the Taste of the Shires, several excellent local bands and choirs, the very finest breeds of cattle, sheep and poultry, not to mention our horse and dog shows, and for our younger visitors the Kids Zone.

The show organisers are determined to make the 2017 show events more attractive than ever. There is quite literally something to meet the interest of everyone.

A full programme from early morning of arena attractions are planned and includes the return of the exiting IMPS Motorbike Display Team last here in the 90's who defy gravity and good sense as they push to the extreme both life, limb and machine. We welcome  the wonderful, stirring sounds of the Wirral Marching Piping Band who will thrill everyone who comes to the show and a display of Horses and Carriages. We must not forget either the young farmers whose floats and sense of fun will make everyone’s day so very special.

If that is too tame for you then wait until you see the tractor pulling. Huge tractors arrive from all around the country and occasionally from abroad to take part in our event. The sledge that is pulled to demonstrate their immense power has to be specially imported from the Netherlands of all places.

"As each successful year passes we are determined to make the next show even better than the last", says show manager Ian Bebbington. "The show committee has given me the authority to book the best attractions that are available on the day, no expense (within reason) spared. I have not let them down and believe the nonstop programme we have booked will thrill everyone".

Ian advises everyone intending to come to the show to book tickets early to save money. ‘There are big savings to be made’, says Ian. Other tickets are also available online and it’s much cheaper if you purchase these in advance. For further information please go to www.westmidshowground.com for further information. Remember kids under the age of 13 are admitted free with an accompanying adult.
